The Jamaican coat of arms was granted to Jamaica in 1661. The design shows a female and male Taino standing on either side of a shield bearing a red cross interspersed with five golden pineapples. The crest is Royal Helmet of the British Monarchy and Mantling upon which a crocodile sits. The motto accompanying the Coat of Arms is “out of many one people”.
