Africa Day 2023

Liberty Hall and the African Caribbean Institute of Jamaica/Jamaica Memory Bank
present Africa Day 2023.  For this staging, we invite you to examine your rationale for commemorating Africa Day and to participate in an engaging discussion about its continued relevance to Jamaicans.  

Our guest presenter this year will be Dr. Amina Blackwood - Meeks.  The venue will be the Garvey Great Hall, at 76 (upper) King Street, Kingston.

The day’s activities will include the discussion at 10:00 a.m., viewing of an Africa display, and tours of The Marcus Mosiah Garvey Multimedia Museum at a discounted cost (conditions apply).

On May 25, 2023, Tashieika Howell, a Compliance Officer at the Department of Cooperatives and Friendly Societies, will explore the topic:
Charities Safeguard Your Operation: Learn about the Charities Act,
The Charities Regulations 2022 and the AML/CFT Regulations.
The presentation will discuss and explain implications of these regulations which came in effect on December 8, 2022 for charities.
It will also cover:
How to Mitigate against risks
The nuances for the different tiers of organisations and operations
