JBDC Annual Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW)

This year’s Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) celebrations will be recognised during the period, November 13 – 19, 2023. JBDC will use this GEW to highlight emerging and creative industries, facilitate business-to-business discussions, and encourage business start-ups on a national level.

The activities for the week will include:
• November 13 – Official Opening of JBDC Agro-Processing Incubator & Innovation Challenge
• November 14 – Opportunity Hour: Essential Oils Demo Day
• November 15 – Fashion & Artisanal Showcase

Jadirè Fabric Expose

‘From Adirè to Jadirè – A Transition of Textile Culture from Southwest Nigeria to Jamaica’ will unfold at The University of the West Indies Regional Headquarters as a variety of Jadire (batik fabrics). 

From Wednesday, November 17 to Saturday, December 2, four Jadirè fabric graduates (Jacquline Mason Reid, Nella Stewart, Simone Gordon and Charmaine Brown), who have developed a Jadire-production business from their training are hosting an expose of batik fabrics and many items made from such.
