In Spanish Town, St Catherine, the bridge was designed by Thomas Wilson and built in 1801 by the Walker Ironworks Company. It is believed to be one of two remaining bridges built by the company and is the oldest of its kind. It spans the Rio Cobre River at about 80 ft long and 15ft wide. The bridge itself was made from cast iron, the abutments on each side are from cut stone. It is no longer in use, but is considered a national monument as was declared by the Jamaica National Heritage Trust.
