The Diocese of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands is inviting persons to compose a hymn to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the Diocese - established on July 25, 1824. The hymn will be used at a National Service of Thanksgiving in July 2024 at which the Archbishop of Canterbury will be present.

‘From Adirè to Jadirè – A Transition of Textile Culture from Southwest Nigeria to Jamaica’ will unfold at The University of the West Indies Regional Headquarters as a variety of Jadire (batik fabrics). 

From Wednesday, November 17 to Saturday, December 2, four Jadirè fabric graduates (Jacquline Mason Reid, Nella Stewart, Simone Gordon and Charmaine Brown), who have developed a Jadire-production business from their training are hosting an expose of batik fabrics and many items made from such.

The CB Group UWI 5K & Run With Passion Kids K returns on Sunday, November 19, 2023, at the UWI Mona Campus starting at 6:30 am. This event is known for raising funds for The University of the West Indies Scholarship Fund, which provides the opportunity of a lifetime to outstanding academic students in dire financial need. 

Registration closes Wednesday, November 15, 2023.

Contribution: 
$1,500 per person.
