The National Museum Jamaica will screen Market Day, a four-part animated storytelling and animation series, on Tuesday, July 30, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Lecture Hall of the Institute of Jamaica, 10-16 East Street, Kingston.
The NMJ, a division of the Institute of Jamaica, says the series explores Jamaica’s history and cultural identity. Under the theme “Fi Wi Culture, Resilience & Legacy,” the screening will include episode previews and remarks from the production team. The first official episode will be released online on August 1. New episodes will follow each Friday until August 22. Viewers can access the series free on the National Museum Jamaica’s YouTube channel.
Episodes run between 2 to 5 minutes and are voiced entirely by staff of the NMJ. The series is delivered in Jamaican Patois with Standard English subtitles and was created by Zoie O’Sullivan and Roael Cooke as part of the museum’s Emancipendence celebrations. Each episode focuses on one of four major groups that shaped Jamaica’s development: the Taino, Spanish, African, and British.
