Join Splashathon 2025, a community beach lapathon dedicated to raising funds for the 12 families who lost their homes in the Fleet Street fire earlier this year.
On February 24, 2025, a devastating fire in Downtown Kingston’s Fleet Street community destroyed the homes of 12 families, displacing more than 50 people. Many are still without stable housing and continue to face significant challenges. With the back-to-school season approaching, the need for assistance is urgent.
In partnership with Life Yard, located at 44 Fleet Street, Splashathon 2025 will be hosted at Jamnesia Surf Camp in 8 Miles, Bull Bay.
The event was created by 15-year-old Makena Wilmot, who experienced a similar tragedy on May 8, 2019, when her family lost their home to a fire at Jamnesia. Splashathon 2025 promises a fun and impactful morning, with opportunities for participants to swim or walk laps in support of the cause. Attendees can enjoy prizes, music, and the Lifeyard Summer Camp’s sports day activities taking place alongside the event.
