Originally named ‘Negrillo’ (little black one) by the Spanish in 1494, this widely dispersed beach and resort area is in Westmoreland and Hanover. Bloody Bay in the north and Long Bay in the south make up the seven mile beach, now filled with all-inclusive resorts and family-run hotels. South of downtown Negril is West End Road, with more private resorts and cliffs as high as 40 ft. It is a very popular tourist destination and recognised as one of the top beaches by several travel magazines.
