The National Heroes Park has a long history of being the home of interesting and notable historical events. Officially renamed in 1973, is the resting place for Jamaica's National Heroes.To the north of the Shrine area, there is a section that is reserved for prime ministers and outstanding patriots.

Monument to the Rt. Excellent Samuel Sharpe
Samuel Sharpe, a Baptist Deacon was hanged in 1832 for his role in the Christmas Rebellion of 1831.
The Crosses in the monument represents Sam Sharpe's faith and his passivity throughout his resistance to slavery.
