As the biggest developing country in the world, new China, since its founding and especially the reform and opening-up, has made remarkable achievements and is striding proudly ahead towards a new era on the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
Jamaica, a shining pearl on the Caribbean Sea, is an important country in the region. Despite the vast geographic distance between China and Jamaica, our two peoples have maintained friendly contacts for a long history. In 1972, Jamaica established diplomatic relations with China, the first in English Caribbean countries. In 2005, China and Jamaica established the Friendly Partnership for Common Development. Our bilateral relationship has kept a good momentum of development, with consolidated mutual trust, ever intensifying pragmatic cooperation, deepening cultural and people-to-people exchanges, flourishing cooperation on the Belt and Road Initiative and production capacity, from which both peoples are greatly benefiting.
My colleagues in the Chinese Embassy and I are committed to enhancing the China-Jamaica friendship and partnership, and safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests and safety of Chinese nationals and institutions in Jamaica. We hope to provide our friends with quality services through this website, and make it a window that promotes understanding about China as well as China-Jamaica relations, a bridge that boosts friendship between our two countries and peoples, and a tie that links local Chinese community with their motherland.
