TUN UP DI VIBE THIS CHRISTMAS!

We have been through the seasons, and what a chaotic yet wonderful year!  Now, the merry-making, glitz and glam, and big money spending have arrived. In our little corner of the world, Jamaicans may not do Christmas the conventional way, but we know how to have a blast.

For us, the entire month of December is Christmas. Once the calendar flips, every day is a holiday. Sorrel is plentiful and selling fast. And the cakes? Oh, the cakes! Dark, moist, and soaked in the right amount of spirits (of the whites). Is it even Christmas without a slice or three of this delicious Christmas staple?

Jingle bells are everywhere, and we decorate our homes from the front door to the back. For some, the Christmas tree was up in November, taking the festive vibes to another level.

No Jamaican Christmas is complete without family gatherings and reunions. It’s the time of year when we come together, laugh over old memories, and, of course, “buss belly.” We’ll wait to see what the gyms look like in January when everyone is trying to shed Christmas pounds.

Amid all the excitement, lights, feasting, and celebrations we should take time to pause and reflect. Let’s be grateful for the journey this year has brought us, for those good things that warmed our hearts, and even the challenges. Tough as they were, those struggles taught us lessons we needed to learn.

As we revel in the season’s magic, and Jamaica is a magical place, let’s hold onto gratitude, cherish loved ones, and embrace our blessings, big and small.

We all know the party lasts all month. Reggae, Dancehall and even Soca events will be in full effect. The vibes tun up fi the Christmas!
